Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.

This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

who Jesus is changes everything. Hey, welcome back to a year in the Bible of Daily Grace.

My name is Katie, and it's my joy to walk through Hebrews with you in our year-long study of the New Testament.

Today we are studying Hebrew 10. As always you can

follow along with the behold studies in the Daily Three Coast shop or with the

reading clan linked in the show notes. Yesterday we talked through Jesus bridging the old and the New

testaments. Although we are no longer under the old covenant, it is necessary to

truly understand the gravity of what Jesus did for us. We will see that continued to

flesh out throughout Hebrew 10. To recap, the mosaic law regardless of the

beautiful things it brought was never able to actually make somebody fully purified.

Animals were sacrificed frequently to atone for the sins of the people, but they were never

able to fully cover the wrongdoings of one person.

Jesus came to be the perfect sacrifice when nothing else would suffice.

Jesus' sacrifice doesn't cover a portion of sin, but all of them.

Hebrew 10 begins with explaining that Jesus is a sacrifice that came once and for all.

There's no longer needed to be another sacrifice as there used to be under the

Mosaic Covenant. Jesus' death and resurrection are more than enough. The author explains this in reference to the mosaic law.

Because the Day of Atonement happened every year,

the sacrifices constantly reminded the people of their sinful state and shame.
