Virata Lion is a survivor of human trafficking.

She grew up in former Yugoslavia and as the brutal war in Kosovo broke out, she escaped Serbia in order to find safety with the Red Cross. But after reaching

Kosovo's capital, she was kidnapped by a human trafficking gang where she suffered horrific abuse.

Against all odds, she managed to escape and was eventually reunited with her parents. However, in an extraordinary turn

of events, Lurata was kidnapped again by Serbia's illegitimate army this time. She was tortured,

abused and held in captivity for six months. Her father managed to eventually rescue her and sent her to

the UK to find safety and claim asylum. This is a shocking story of how someone can survive absolute horror,

and her journey of recovery and healing will absolutely inspire you.
