0:24.3	in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen, and I'm excited to walk through 1 John in our study
0:30.0	of the New Testament. As always, I'm using the Behold study guides from the Daily Grace Co, and all
0:35.7	that info will be in the show notes.
0:38.7	As we studied 1 John 3, John discussed regeneration, the theological term for new birth.
0:45.6	God takes those who were once spiritually dead and gives them new life in Christ.
0:51.3	Hearts that were once stone, God has turned to flesh. Today, as John closes his letter,
0:57.1	he will pick back up the theme of regeneration. John will teach us about the relationship between
1:03.1	God's love for us, our new birth, and our obedience. In verses 1 through 4, John describes the
1:10.0	effects of our new birth.
1:11.6	We come to love God and increasingly believe in Jesus.
1:15.6	This love that we have for our Savior naturally produces a desire to obey.
1:21.6	Because we are made new in Christ, God's commands are not a burden. They are a gift.
1:26.6	We see them as the pathway to looking
1:29.3	more and more like Jesus. John says God's commands are not a burden because those born of God
1:35.7	have conquered the world. John uses this conquering language in his gospel as well. When Jesus says,
1:42.7	I have told you these things
1:44.7	so that in me you may have peace.
