0:30.0	Currently we are studying 1st Corinthians and today we will be in 1st Corinthians 14.

0:42.5	In today's chapter, Paul wraps up addressing the Corinthians' questions about spiritual

0:47.2	He began in chapter 12, where he taught us that God gave many types of spiritual gifts
0:51.8	all for the common good of the church.
0:54.3	In Chapter 13, Paul described the greatest gift, love, and how we are to use spiritual gifts
0:59.9	not for our own selfish gain, but in order to love one another.
1:04.8	And today, Paul corrects what seems to be the problem in the Corinthian gatherings.
1:10.2	The church was placing too much emphasis on speaking in tongues over other gifts of the spirit.
1:16.4	Paul desires spiritual gifts to be used in a way that builds the church up and honors those within
1:22.4	and new believers. Paul writes to create order and
1:26.3	peace within worship. Understanding Paul's motivation here helps us to make
1:31.1	sense of these verses. Paul is very concerned with what will edify
1:35.7	or encourage the entire church. That is why he seems to favor prophecy over speaking in tongues.
