0:26.0	My name is Katie, and together we are walking through the New Testament in a year.
0:30.0	Currently, we are studying First Corinthians, and today we will be in 1st Corinthians 10.

0:40.0	a reading plan linked in the show notes. In today's chapter Paul is still
0:44.3	addressing the letter written to him from the Corinthian Church. From concerns
0:48.7	raised in this chapter Paul expounds upon Christian liberty or the freedom that we have in Christ.
0:55.7	What does that freedom permit?
0:57.4	What doesn't it permit?
0:59.4	In today's chapter, Paul continues to address whether or not it is okay to eat food offered to idols.
1:04.8	But his answer isn't as black and white as the Corinthians might have hoped.
1:09.6	Paul argues in chapter 8 that yes food offer to idols is merely food because the idols
1:15.2	themselves are not real but for some newer in the faith or weak as Paul calls
1:20.4	them they may associate this food with the worship of idols. It may lead them to sin.
1:26.3	Today Paul follows that threat of thinking to its end. What is the danger of flirting with idols in idolatry?
1:36.4	He uses several examples from Israel's past to warn of the dangers of idolatry. What's interesting is that Paul uses an example of Israel's history and calls them ancestors,
1:45.0	even though his audience in Corinth is the majority of Gentiles.
