Summary

In Job 31, Emma Dotter & Brent Buuemi ask the question: “How to keep up spiritual morale in dry season.” Brent compares suffering to having our face pressed against stained glass. 0:25.4	Well, hey, Brent, you have a unique job. So I'd love for you to start us off by just sharing a little bit about what you do for work and how your faith coincides.
0:33.1	Absolutely. So in the Dallas area, I play clarinet, so I'm a musician. That looks like playing in two orchestras in the area, Los Galinas and Dallas Chamber Symphony. And then I play a lot of jazz. And so that's my favorite. That's where I love to play. I get to play a lot of jazz in the area, and that's a lot of fun. I call that kind of my night job. My day job is teaching for Dallas College, and I teach music appreciation and clarinet for them
0:57.5	as an adjunct professor.
0:59.4	And that's really neat.
1:00.8	But, you know, when I'm teaching, you know, I'm acutely aware that, you know, none of my
1:05.1	students are, none of these guys are going to go on and be professional musicians, or
1:08.6	they're taking my class either just to graduate at music appreciation
1:12.6	or they're in high school band or whatever and they're just taking clarinet for an elective.
1:18.3	And so, you know, I never view it as like, hey, I'm training them to be professional musicians.
1:22.4	And so I'm training them to be good humans.
1:24.1	And so a lot of times I get to train them in wisdom and biblical principles,
1:29.6	because a lot of them, they don't know how to deal with authority. They don't know how to deal
1:33.2	with conflict resolution. And so I get to, you know, they'll have oftentimes conflicts or they don't
1:39.7	like the way their teachers treating them. And I say, you know, get to prepare them and say,
