you talked about how the priesthood was responsible for what?

What did you say?

The death of Jesus.

The death of Jesus.

Wow.

Yeah.

It's going to be good.

Well, yeah, they were the reason that Jesus ultimately died and went to the cross.

But what we're going to see is they had no right to make that decision in the first place.

Okay.

Now, I said, you probably never heard this before.

And so this is going to be just kind of an overwhelming history lesson,

but I want to give you kind of a background of it.

The corruption of the priesthood was so great that the Essines, which was a group that we'll

spend a little time on, hopefully when we get to John the Baptist.

And when we talk about John the Baptist, we'll ask a couple questions.

Number one, was John the Baptist an Essine?

Okay.

Number two, was Jesus influenced by the ascents? Two big questions. So who are the Essenes? They're one of the five groups of Israel that are presently

active during the time of Jesus. Now, fun fact, none of these groups existed prior to the Maccabian

revolt that happened not long before. And we'll talk about that in a moment. But basically,
