And today we're going to welcome in the holiday season by revisiting our final episode of the year 2019.

Genuinely, the before times.

2019.

At least we've left Onassis. At now we really are going back in time.

We are with the very merry story of one queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, and it's really not

merry, and her first marriage to music mogul Tommy Motola.

Who knows if she ever thought 30 years ago back in 1994 that her album, Merry Christmas, would produce a recurring seasonal hit with All I Want for Christmas is You.

But she really did create something that people always love this time of year.

And she and Tommy have been pretty stable since we recorded this in the before times, right?

No new marriages or divorces.

No, apparently Mariah split from her boyfriend of seven years in 2023. That's Brian Tanaka,

dancer and choreographer. But they were never married. Tommy is still married to his wife of 24 years.

Now, 24 years. Talia, interestingly, in Mariah's 2020 memoir, the meaning of Mariah Carey,

she did discuss a couple of incidents where Tommy really trashed Sean Combs, he of many legal

issues these days. Oh yeah. And he was a good friend of Mariah Carey's back then. So these sort of, there were tussles, there were

arguments, not physical, but there were arguments that really upset her about Sean Combs.

And in light of all of the charges and allegations that he's facing these days, I suspect that

Tommy's feeling a little vindicated by those early assessments. But you know what?
