And today we're going to talk about that one time when actress and singer Hillary Duff got married to a hockey player, and it kind of publicly imploded fairly quickly.

That sounds exactly just like the kind of love story we like around here.

We love that for her. Let's go, go, go. Stacey, I'm excited about this one today.

I don't know a lot about Hillary Duff. I'm a little older than the

Lizzie McGuire set. Right. And we were not raising children in the first part of this century.

Sure. I did see her, though, on how I met your father, maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if you were a kid or a tween

in the early 2000s, Hillary Duff was like catnip for you,

an extremely popular figure in your childhood, or if you were raising kids of that age at the time.

She was very present.

From 2001 to 2004, she played the title character in the Disney Channel's popular series Lizzie McGuire.

Lizzie McGuire, of course, was a wholesome, good-natured tween character trying to navigate

through issues that junior high kids face. Although the plot lines were watered down from reality

and problems always, you know, got solved quite quickly. It was a comforting

and relatable show for millions of kids during that time. What most viewers found so reassuring

and insightful were Lizzie's soliloquies of an animated version of herself revealing her inner

thoughts and emotions. Lizzie, along with her friends and family on the show, provided a safe

and entertaining way for kids and tweens to feel seen and understood. Oh, if it were all that easy.
