| 0:28.0 | Tiffany here, and as has been our rhythm for the past few weeks, today we take a look at some of the Psalms that possibly fit into this time period in David's reign. |
| 0:39.0 | We don't know for certain, but the events of David's military conquests and victories in 2 Samuel 8 and 1 Chronicles 18 could possibly have led to the writing of Psalms 50, |
| 0:54.0 | 53, 60, and 75. |
| 0:58.0 | These Psalms specifically look at God's role as judge and the judgment that the wicked face. |
| 1:06.0 | Written by ASAP and David, it's easy to see how the many battles against the wicked nations around them could lead to these laments, petitions, and songs of praise. |
| 1:20.0 | And though Psalms that speak about judgment might seem heavy, for those that know Jesus, we read these Psalms with joy because we know our eternal destination and the peace we find is in Christ. |
| 1:35.0 | Psalm 50 written by ASAP begins by reminding us of three names for our judge. |
| 1:43.0 | He is the mighty one, God, and the Lord. His authority to judge is established in those three names. In verses 1 through 4, God summons the whole earth. |
| 1:58.0 | When he appears, he is radiant and a devouring fire precedes him. His power is great and he not only summons the people that inhabit the earth, he summons all of heaven. |
| 2:12.0 | This summoning includes the wicked and the faithful, and he begins by addressing the faithful. |
| 2:21.0 | In verses 5 through 15, God addresses those that serve and fear him as his faithful ones. He specifically addresses the thank offering, or as we also know it, the fellowship offering. |
| 2:35.0 | We study this offering in Leviticus chapter 7. It's the only offering that the worshipper can take part in consuming the sacrifice. |
| 2:45.0 | These verses are meant to remind the faithful that they are welcome in God's presence, just like one who sits at a table for a meal. |
| 2:56.0 | The Lord also reminds his children that the world and everything in it is his. He is the one who will rescue them when they call on his name. |
| 3:07.0 | The faithful have no need to fear God as their judge, because his covenant and salvation are assured. |
| 3:16.0 | God then goes on to address the wicked in verses 16 through 21. The wicked hate God's instruction. They associate with thieves and adulterers, and they malign and slander others. |
| 3:31.0 | God will judge and rebuke the wicked, and he promises in verse 22 that those who forget God will be torn apart. There will be no one coming to their rescue. |
