Hey, you're in the Bible family. Tiffany here. Welcome back. Not only to our chronological journey, but our journey through the Proverbs.

Solomon has thrown a lot of wisdom at us the past few days.

Hopefully, as you read, you were able to pick out some of the themes we've already discussed, like laziness and the tongue.

But today, as we cover Proverbs 19 through 21, we will look at three additional themes, liars, the poor, and wides.

It might seem like a rather eclectic mix of topics, but we need wisdom in every aspect of our lives, and that wisdom only comes from the word of the board.

I loved the reminder in Proverbs 21 30 today when we read, no wisdom, no understanding, and no counsel will prevail against the Lord.

Our finite human wisdom, logic, and knowledge is inferior. We cling to the Lord who provides infinite wisdom in all things.

So, with that reminder, leading the charge today, let's take a look at the theme of liars, false witnesses, and mockers.

One of these three terms can be found 14 times in Proverbs 19 through 21.

Here are several to help us as we chat through this topic.

Proverbs 19 5 says, a false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape.

Proverbs 20 23 says, differing weights are detestable to the Lord, and dishonest scales are unfair.

Proverbs 21 6 says, making a fortune through a lying tongue is a vanishing mist, a pursuit of death.

And lastly, Proverbs 21 24 says, the arrogant and proud person named Mocker acts with excessive arrogance.

Deceit, dishonesty, and arrogance mark the wicked person who pursues lies.

When God gave the Law to Moses, he clearly stated, do not lie or bear false witness as the ninth commandment.

And when we studied Deuteronomy, we looked at the details God gave concerning this ninth commandment.

In Deuteronomy 25 verses 1 through 16, the statutes and ordinances instructed the Israelites to avoid practicing excessive punishment,
