Today we continue our walk through the Gospels

Jesus hasn't been who anyone expected, but he has been exactly who they need and exactly

who we need. Today we study his compassion for the multitudes, his disciples, and us.

But first we say goodbye to the man who prepared the way for the Messiah.

All three accounts today mention the death of John the Baptist

and it is prefaced by Herod Antipus's fear over all he heard that Jesus was doing in the region.

Jesus reminded Herod of John the Baptist, who he had executed.

John the Baptist had been arrested by Herod Antipus, the Tetrak of the region, for speaking against his unlawful marriage

to his brother's wife Herod.

Herod was conflicted by John.
