Today we return to the Gospel of John.

This chapter shares some of the same narratives we studied yesterday, like Jesus

feeding the 5,000 and walking on the water. We will briefly talk about those, but today we will

focus on Jesus' teaching about the bread of life.

We will learn that our deepest hunger is not physical, but spiritual, and Jesus alone satisfies our souls.

about John's narrative of the Feeding of the Five Thousand. After the 5,000.

After the multitude was miraculously fed

by the two fish and five loaves of bread,

this truly is the prophet who is to come into the world.

As we've said before, the people saw Jesus as the fulfillment of what Moses said in

Deuteronomy 1815, the Lord or God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

But they misunderstood that Jesus was the better Moses and that he

had a far greater purpose than simply saving them from the tyranny of Rome.
