0:33.4	Jeremiah has been filled with hard truths and judgments, but it has been filled with
0:38.8	the hope of the new covenant and God's promise to return a remnant to Jerusalem.
0:44.8	Over the past two days, we've studied God's judgment on the nations.
0:49.4	Today, our focus will be on God's judgment of Babylon, which spans chapters 50 and 51.
0:56.8	We briefly introduced it yesterday and we will look at the bulk of that judgment today.
1:02.8	As we begin, let's take a moment to look back at the end of chapter 50.
1:07.8	In verse 44, the Lord says through Jeremiah, for who is like me?
1:13.6	Who will issue me as summons?
1:16.3	Who is the shepherd who can stand against me?
1:20.4	Here in the very middle of God's judgment against Babylon, the Lord reminds Babylon and
1:26.1	the people of Judah that no one can stand against him.
1:30.2	No one can thwart his plan.
1:32.8	Sword, famine, and desolation await Babylon, and God's power, might, and holiness will
1:38.6	be on display before the world.
