0:31.5	and today we take a trip to the book of Hosea. Over the next two days, we will chat through the 14 chapters of this prophetic
0:40.0	book. Today, we read the first seven chapters. Since we have so much to cover, let's chat briefly
0:47.8	about the context of Hosea and then do an overview of chapters 1 through 6. We will get to chapter 7 tomorrow, I promise.
0:57.1	Josea is a rich book filled with many truths concerning God's character. His faithfulness,
1:04.3	mercy, and compassion are woven throughout the book, despite Israel's rebellion and impending punishment.
1:12.5	The prophet Hosea is the author of the book.
1:16.6	He lists in the very first verse the various kings he prophesied under during his 40-year ministry.
1:24.4	We have placed him here on our chronological journey in the twilight of his prophetic years during the reign of Hezekiah, and after his prophecies had been fulfilled by the Assyrians who took Israel captive.
1:40.3	Josea had the unique experience of seeing God's prophecies spoken through him fulfilled later in his life.
1:49.7	That wasn't always the case for the prophets.
1:53.4	Josea primarily prophesied to the northern kingdom of Israel during the final 25 tumultuous years when king after king was assassinated.
