0:34.0	Today, we study chapters 4 through 6, which can be somewhat confusing at first glance.
0:40.0	But as we've done with every tough passage we've come to this year, we dive in,
0:45.0	trusting what God has already revealed in Scripture and build upon the foundation of Christ.
0:52.0	Our time in the Old Testament earlier this year will help us better understand what
0:57.0	the author of Hebrews is talking about when he speaks of the law, the sacrificial system,
1:03.0	promised rest, and our great high priest.
1:07.0	We ended our time yesterday, being warned not to harden our hearts to the gospel.
1:13.0	And the author introduced us to the promised rest of God.
1:18.0	In chapter 4, he explains what this rest is.
1:22.0	The author of Hebrews alludes to the events in Numbers 13.
1:27.0	When 10 of the 12 men who scouted the promised land led the people to rebel against the Lord
1:34.0	and did not enter because of their fear.
1:38.0	Their punishment was to never enter the promised rest of the promised land
1:44.0	and to wander in the wilderness until the first generation died.
