Hey, you're in the Bible family. Welcome back to the podcast. Tiffany here, and today we begin one of my favorite books in the New Testament, the book of Hebrews.

One of the reasons I love this book so much

is how it acts as a key to help us unlock and understand so much of the Old Testament. Hebrews

clearly shows us that Jesus is better. He is better than angels, prophets, priests, and the sacrificial system. He is better

because he is our anointed Savior who fulfills the roles of prophet, priest, and king perfectly.

Over the next four days, we will unpack what this means and rejoice in the work of Christ.

Before we chat through chapters 1 through 3, let's begin with some context.

The author of Hebrews is unknown.

The text itself doesn't give us any clues, and while scholars love to speculate, what

we need to remember is that all scripture is breathed out

by God through the Holy Spirit's direction of all the earthly authors of Scripture.

Even though we don't know the human author, we can trust the divine one.

Hebrews is both a letter and a theological sermon. Though not addressed to any particular group,

it was likely first dispersed to Greek Jews who had become believers. The author sets out to prove,

with success, that Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and sacrificial system.

He is our mediator and the exact expression of God's glory through his roles as prophet,

priest, and king.
