Nightmare University. When I teach any class, I always try to save the last

two lectures to let the students do a little bit of deciding on their own as to what we might

be learning about. And I do this in my intro to film classes all the way up to my genre classes,

like musicals and horror. And I absolutely love doing this in the horror class

because I always figure that the students, you know, they're paying for this class. So they should

have some type of say in it. And it's always exciting to see by the end of the semester, by the time

that they have kind of learned the whole history of horror, of what topics they're still fascinated

to learn more about, what they choose

on those days. And I'll usually let them generate a list of about 10 different topics that

I've mentioned throughout the semester that they've been fascinated with, but we didn't get to

cover. And then they'll get to vote on what they learn on the past, the last two days of class.

And I love this because a lot of times

it forces me to kind of push myself beyond the topics and tropes that I discuss all the time.
