For this episode, we're traveling back to the autumn of 1978.

On November 18, 1978, the Jim Jones incident occurred in Guyana.

Call leader Jim Jones orchestrated a mass suicide murder of his followers.

918 men, women, and children were killed.

The next day, the first, take back the night march, took place in San Francisco, California.

On November 27th, San Francisco Mayor George Bascone and city supervisor Harvey Milk were assassinated by Dan White, a disgruntled former city supervisor.

Milk was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California.

On December 1st, the number one song was You Don't Bring Me Flowers by

Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond. The number one movie was the harrowing Midnight Express,

which was an American college student who was incarcerated in a Turkish prison for trying to

smuggle as heesh out of the country. In the last week of November,

1978, 17-year-old Sandra K. Fry moved into an apartment in Anaheim, California

with a roommate, Georgina Stevenson.

On December 1st, Sandra was home alone. Georgine and her boyfriend were out for the evening.

They came home and found Sandra unconscious on her bed.

She was nude from the waist down and her shirt had been pulled up to expose her bra.

It was clear she had been beaten in the head.

911 was called and Sandra was rushed to the hospital. But she was pronounced dead not long

after arriving. The medical examiner determined that she had been raped. The cause of death
