AIDS was convicted of the murder of El Noreg Ribbon.

Ed Zordiel was longer than most.

El Noreg was murdered on July 22, 1993.

And Ed was not convicted until August 12, 1998.

Over five years later.

Five years is a long time to wait for the state to get their conviction.

But in Ed's case it was a long and complicated road.

But at the end of the day, five years later, 12 jurors voted unanimously to convict him.

start at the first trial that happened in 1996.

Ed was first arrested for this murder, about 30 days after the fact in August of 1993.

He spent about eight months in the Smith County jail before he was finally able to bond out

in April of 1994.

By that time his life was already changing.

His relationship with Monica Bush was over, he needed to find a new job, which he eventually
