Hello and welcome to Rex Factor reviewing all the Kings and Queens of Scots from

Kenneth Macalpin to James the sixth. Now and he's not going to be happy because

for the second week in a row we have a name which did cause you a bit of a double take.

Every time I have to do that introduction it sounded like Darth.

Now it definitely isn't Darth is it it? Not Darth Vader. No, it's it's Dibba. Well yes it's spelled, well variant spellings but D-U-B-H.

That's pronounced doth. As in duff beer.

Exactly.

But as in duff beer.

So this is King duff.

Fricket.

Now a little bit of context before we get on to Duff, the backgroundy stuff.

As we said before, when we started this series, we didn't have actually a kingdom called Scotland.

We had lots of different smaller kingdoms. but then in the 840s Kenneth

Macalpin came along he was the Scots which is from the Scottish kingdom on the

west coast of Scotland he takes over the Scots he takes over the picks who were kind of in the middle and he sets up this new

alpin dynasty from which everything else will one day flow yes but there's still

a bit of backwards and forwards there's no defined Scotland.

Still bits of backwards and forwards we still have separate kingdoms within what we would call

modern day Scotland and we also have Vikings who appear.
