Hey friends, welcome back to another day on our journey from Eden to eternity.

Tiffany here and today we come to 1st Samuel chapter 18 through 20.

I'm not sure if you counted as you read, but Saul attempts to

kill David at least seven times in these three chapters. Saul's jealousy and David's humility

remain in stark contrast as we continue to trace the overarching theme of kingship. As we chat through these seven attempts,

notice the sinful responses of Saul that show us what kingship isn't, but also notice David's

faithful responses. His actions continually show us true kingship and what life lived in the spirit looks like.

So let's get started. We ended yesterday with Saul's jealousy over David slaying Goliath.

That jealousy only grows as David's success continues. He and Saul's son, Jonathan, become the

best of friends in Chapter 18. The army greatly respects David, and the nation sings songs of victory

for him, songs that fan the flame of Saul's jealousy and lead us to the first attempt on David's life.

An evil spirit from the Lord comes upon Saul.
