The celebration of the Ark of the Covenants' arrival into Jerusalem continues in our reading today.

And we will also take a look at several Psalms that remind us of the importance of building our life on the Word of God,

and what righteous living looks like.

Yesterday, after her brief failure to bring the Ark to Jerusalem, David eventually followed the Lord's instruction,

and the Levites carried the Ark into the tent David constructed in Jerusalem.

This tent was not the original tabernacle constructed by Moses.

That tabernacle had been placed in Gibbian after Saul had killed a Himalek and all the priests and knob.

The tent in Jerusalem was constructed quickly by David in order to house the Ark.

For a time, there were two tents.

One in Jerusalem, where the Ark resided, sacrifices were made, and the musicians worshiped.

And the original tent in Gibbian, where the High Priest, Zaidak, offered burnt offerings to the Lord and followed the sacrificial system from the Law.

For a season, there were two places of worship, but the Lord's presence dwelt between the cherubum on the mercy seat, situated atop the Ark of the Covenant in Jerusalem.

As we talk about the tent in Jerusalem, I want to make sure that we had those distinctions in our minds.

After the Ark is brought into the tent, David establishes daily worship through song in addition to the sacrifices.

He makes ASAF the chief of worship and appoints musicians.

To our modern day ears, ASAF would be like the pastor of worship or the band director at your church.

But before David hands over the musical reins, he leads the people in a psalm of Thanksgiving.
