0:38.9 | kind of a long one, but my grandfather was a Baptist preacher and a very faithful, wonderful |
0:45.7 | man. His daughter, my mother, though, though she was a believer, when she left home, |

0:55.8 | faithfully for Jesus. And so as I got to be a teenager, I started really questioning, |
1:04.2 | though I had made a profession of faith, I started questioning how do we know that what we |
1:09.9 | believe is true, that the Bible is actually |
1:12.8 | God's word versus other possibilities, since there's clearly so many faiths around the world? |
1:18.9 | And for the most part, I received relatively angry responses and didn't really have anywhere |
1:27.2 | I could go where it was safe to ask those kinds of |
1:30.5 | questions. And so that really played a role in sidetracking me from following Jesus. I just |
1:37.8 | didn't have a whole lot of really good disciplining at that point because we had moved away |
1:42.8 | and I wasn't around my grandparents a great deal. |
1:46.3 | And so if you then fast forward, you know, I didn't realize it at the time, but there were some |
1:53.4 | issues from my childhood that brought about depression. And there was a reliance on alcohol a great deal. |
