Hello, welcome to another edition of the Standard of Truth podcast. I'm your host, Garrett

Dirkmont, and I'm joined by my friend Richard Leduc.

Hello. Last podcast, we talked about kind of the evolution of the criticisms of the Book

Mormon and Joseph Smith early on in the church. We ended with talking about Solomon Spalding's

manuscript. So when they found the manuscript, Garrett, my guess is that the argument went away and that it no longer exists anymore.

No.

Well, so that would be what we would call a logical guess as if, you know, A plus B equals C.

But when it comes to anti-Mormonism, A plus B equals, I bet there's a whole bunch

more A's.

And so it really does, I mean, it takes the, for, for 70 years, roughly, it was the, the,

the argument against the origins of the Book of Mormon.

Now, of course, when Iber Howe first presented it in his book,

he didn't claim that it was, you know, the word for word thing taken from. In fact,

even said in that gigantic title we read last time that was just like, oh yeah, you know,

even he said that the historical parts of it were taken from that book.

But that wasn't the argument that most other people started making with it.

Oh, yeah, that's just where the Book of Mormon comes from.
