I'm your host, Garrett Dirkmont, and I'm joined by my co-host, Richard Ledoux.

In today's podcast, we want to talk about the translation of the Book of Mormon.

And Garrett is a scholar that has spent most of his academic career studying the translation

of the Book of Mormon.

He published with his co-author, Michael McKay,

from Darkness Unto Light, Joseph Smith's translation and publication of the Book of Mormon.

And so, Garrett, as it relates to you describing the translation of the gold plates,

how do you go about that? That's quite, that's quite the story, quite the telling.

Yeah, and it's a, it's obviously a pretty big,

undertaking to try to explain this process

because there's so many, there's a lot of different moving parts here.

I mean, whenever someone wants a really simple explanation

for something, you know, you know, I feel like that's me,

you know, if I were to ask Stephen Hawking to, you know, tell me the, the, tell me exactly how

string theory works, but I've only got 30 seconds. I mean, the reality is that there's a lot of

sources involved in the translation and there's a lot of different theories
