Stacy, you got the first part of a genuine two-parter going today, don't you?

I do. People of a certain age will remember astronomer and public science guy Carl Sagan,

particularly for his 1980 TV series Cosmos. He was a big player in space science during

a time when the US was very focused on exploration and made himself a very prominent voice in all of

that. But he was also a difficult and arrogant man, especially as a younger guy, and today we're

going to talk about his doting mother's influence on him and his fairly terrible first marriage.

There's a lot of a mago in this story. Indeed. This weekend we'll be back with his

ultimately fairly terrible second marriage, as well as his third, which seems to have gone a

little better. But before we do, Alicia is that a magic mirror I spy through my telescope?
