So when we first come into the world of homesteading, we're gardening or growing our own food,

and it's really easy to take on a ultra-focused perspective of what we're doing.

We focus on the plants. We focus on

individual animals. And that's normal. And it's also, I think, a symptom of our industrial

conditioning that we can get so reductionist that we fail to see the bigger picture. Now, we've all

done it. I've absolutely been there and I'm still struggling to broaden my thinking.

But one thing I've learned over the last few years is I've continued to mature as a homesteader and a gardener and expand my education is that the picture is much, much bigger.

Everything's connected and there's so many other pieces that it's easy to forget.

Now, recently, I'd say we're the last year or two,

soil has become a really big focus of mine. If you've been listening to the show, you know,

I get totally nerded out over that topic. We've talked about it a number of times. And today

we're going to talk about it again because I just can't get enough of it. And I'm starting to

realize the more I start to understand what's going on underneath my garden,
