0:56.4	For today's episode, I'm going to fulfill the request of several listeners.
1:01.4	A few weeks ago, after we examined the police interrogation videos of Richard Allen,
1:07.1	a few people asked if there are any examples of someone being subjected to the read technique and lying when we know for a fact that they're guilty.
1:10.3	I thought a lot about that, and this week I went out searching for an example for you.
1:14.7	And I found it in Chris Watts.
1:17.3	I know a lot of you are familiar with the case, but for those of you who aren't, here are the basics.
1:21.9	On November 6, 2018, Watts pled guilty and was convicted of the murders of his wife, Shanand, and his two daughters, Bella and Celeste, four and eight years old, respectively.
1:32.8	And Shanan was also pregnant at the time.
1:35.3	Now, if we back up just a few months from there, we get to August 13th of that year.
1:39.8	That's the day that Shanan, Bella, and Celeste were reported missing from their home in Frederick, Colorado.
1:45.6	The story quickly gained national news attention.
1:48.7	We saw several videos of Chris pleading for the safe return of his family in front of news cameras.
1:53.9	Two days later, the Frederick Police Department had recovered surveillance footage of Shanan and the girls walking into the house and never leaving again.
2:02.3	The only person coming in and out was Chris.
2:05.8	He was seen on the morning of the 13th carrying several large objects out into his truck.
2:11.1	On the 15th, he was taken into the station for questioning.
2:14.5	And what you're about to hear over the next hour or so is the first half of the
2:19.0	interrogation where Watts confessed to the murders, or to be more precise, one of the murders.
