authorities say 28 year old Darius Wimberley was killed early this morning.

Tonight friends and family held a vigil for him,

while city leaders call in the community

to stay peaceful.

Police say just after two this morning,

officers responded to a call of a man that was being held at gunpoint by another

man on this street but when they got there no one from that home called police.

Now police say it wasn't until officers were leaving when a man on the street

fired several shots toward the house and

officers. Officers returned fire and hit and killed Wimberly.

Now police say Wimberly had two handguns on him at the time of the shooting and that he

had no criminal record.
