Summary

Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie are back to review the latest news and racing in the world of procycling, assisted this week by ace commentator Rob Hatch.

‘Opening Weekend’ may not have lived up to all the hype but both Omloop het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne did serve up some juicy talking points. Among the hottest topics in the Belgian media were Visma-Lease a Bike’s toils - and they’re also on the agenda in this week’s ‘Coorevits Corner’, our weekly check-in with Flandrian cycling oracle Hugo Coorevits.

In part three of the episode, we look ahead to Strade Bianche and Paris-Nice at the weekend. One of the favourites for overall victory on the Promenade des Anglais a week on Sunday, Pavel Sivakov, also shares some childhood memories of “The Race to the Sun” and discusses newfound confidence since joining UAE Team Emirates last year.

0:39.0

cycling journalist, I went to watch the Tour de France with my dad. We went to see a time trial at

0:44.1

San Etienne and then the plan was to watch the race on Alp Duet. But we were there off our own backs.

We travelled over on our own and we were kind of making it up as we went along and we

0:55.2

didn't really appreciate how big the Tour de France was and we certainly didn't know how early

0:59.5

the roads were closed and so when it came to getting to Aptuiz, we couldn't get onto the mountain.

We ended up watching it on a bit of a nondescript stretch of road on the run towards Borg du

got more out of it if we'd gone with some people who really knew what the tour was all about.

1:20.7

And I think that's where Sports Tours International really comes into its own because their guides

really know what they're doing and they can take you on the trip of a
