Summary

Oi you, loser! Or should that be winner? Yes on this month’s episode of The Cycling Podcast Féminin, we discuss our picks for the winners and losers of the season. Our very own losers Rose Manley, Denny Gray and Rebecca Charlton pick out a few notable performances – both for good and bad reasons – from a season that threw up a number of surprises. We ask who faired best and worst from the big transfer shake up which saw many big name riders find new teams and responsibilities.

For our mini feature this month we look at the rise of African cycling in light of Team Amani’s announcement that they will become the first ever Africa-based Women’s Continental team. We hear about the challenges facing African riders from visa complications to community stigma and find out about Team Amani’s ambitions to make it to the Tour de France Femmes by 2028. Listen in to hear from team mentor Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, partnerships director Xylon Van Eyck and Team Amani star rider Xaverine Nirere who lit up the World Championships time trial in Rwanda this year.

We also take a look at next year’s Tour de France Femmes course which covers nine stages from Switzerland to Nice.

Also on the agenda: Anna Van der Breggen plays the piano, Denny embraces his inner beatnik poet and a wet ffff… firework.

That one I hadn't even thought of came to you as you looked at my face and losers.

0:51.4

No, I said you've got to decide between yourselves and Denny Gray. Well, thank you,

0:56.4

Rose. I think I guess I am the loser, aren't I? Because I didn't win the Christmas quiz last year.

1:01.9

So I am the current loser. In fact, I've never won it, unfortunately. So, yeah, Becker's definitely

1:07.2

the reigning champion, the winner. I'm so glad that 11 months on, we still haven't got over it.

1:12.7

I like that kind of spirit because we will have a Christmas quiz, of course, next month.

1:17.8

1:21.5

That's good to know.

1:22.5

I think I'm just, I'm really nervous about that because if I lose for a third time in a row, I might just

1:29.2

have to hide myself away. Yeah. Oh no, you get sacked. You do get sacked. Okay. Well, that makes

1:35.6

my decision easier, doesn't it? Yeah. So you've got it, you've just got to go, oh, I see. You're
