When I was sixteen years old, like all children, I needed my mother and my father. I want

you to understand one thing. All children need their mother and their father. There are

no exceptions. All children need their mother and their father.

This is Frank Abigail's attempt to justify his criminal past. It's the same story that

captured Steven Spielberg's heart. In the film, Abigail's parents are forced to move

out of their large family home and into a small New York City apartment. Why? Because

this Frank senior, the dad, had tax trouble with the IRS.

This was the beginning of the end for the Abigail family. Later, Frank Jr. learns that his

mother, Paulette, was having an affair with her father's friend. Poor sixteen-year-old

Frank didn't know what to do, so he ran away from home. His plan was to make as much

money as possible so that one day he could reunite his family.

Of course, that's just the Hollywood version of the story. I'll let Frank Jr. explain

what really happened. One day, a complete stranger a judge told me of the two people I loved

most in the world I had to choose one of them over the other. He gave me seconds to answer

them. Instead, I've turned and ran. I have no regrets. I would do it again tomorrow.

In real life, Frank Jr. says that he ran out of the courtroom and into the streets of
