Summary

Join Rose Manley, Denny Gray and Lizzy Banks as they take a look at the sixth stage of the Tour de France Femmes.

Stage 6 was intended to be one for the fast finishers but with the strongest sprinter - Lorena Wiebes - already out, it had the potential to be a golden opportunity for a new winner at the race. We hear from Emma Norsgaard, Lucinda Brand, Susanne Andersen and Charlotte Kool.

Plus, the team look ahead to what will be the greatest challenge of the race, the ascent of the Tourmalet in the seventh stage. Francois Thomazeau gives us some more “French Flavour” and we hear how Denny got on in the Tour de France Fan Zone.

You are listening to the Cycling Podcast at the 2023 Tour de France fan, today we're in Blanjak.

Well, that sort of sobbing and yelping sound that we started the podcast with was Emma Norse God,

0:40.0

taking the win today at stage 6 from Albita Blanjak and I was thinking when I was listening to the sounds of Emma Norse God

0:48.0

celebrating with her Movistar teammates and crying and the tears just never seemed to stop pouring.

0:54.0

I was thinking that Lizzie probably at the same time you would have been celebrating wildly

0:58.0

because I know that Emma is one of your good friends isn't she? Yeah, she's a good friend of mine.

1:02.0

We were on the same team for two years back in 2019 and 2020 and absolutely thrilled for her today after a tough year.

1:10.0

Tough, probably a year and a half I'd say, just absolutely what she needed and deserved and couldn't be happier for her.

1:18.0

Oh, it's fantastic and we're looking forward to hearing your tale of a tap in a minute of course, Lizzie to hear exactly how that all happened

1:26.0

but Denny Gray, we're here in, we're not in Blanjak actually, we've moved probably to the outskirts of Toulouse

1:34.0

because we thought it'd be a bit more, I know Blanjak is kind of the airport town of Toulouse, so slightly more.

1:40.0

Well, we've actually ended up in a kind of a fixed suburb, haven't we?

1:43.0

And absolutely amazingly, we're sitting in a square with people playing cricket which I've never seen in France before.

1:51.0

No, although as you say, they've got English accents which explains it, but yeah, it's a very serene atmosphere here, very peaceful.

2:00.0

Somebody roller skating over there and yeah, it's all very...

2:04.0

Onto the cricket field, which I think is pretty unusual isn't it?

2:07.0

Yeah, well, they don't have a few streeters and other people coming up to the pitch.

2:12.0

No, it's keeping my eye out.

2:14.0

We can only hope that that man who seems to be drinking a can of cider as he roller skates around keeps all of his clothes on.

2:23.0

But yeah, if you do hear the odd little very polite round of applause or how's that?

2:30.0

Is that right, Denny? I don't know cricket, so I'm just really...

2:33.0

You asked me how it is or you asked me about that's the right term.
