Summary

Over the course of 36 hours, 15 year old Jennifer Jeffley was interviewed by police multiple times without a lawyer or parent present. In this episode Bob walks us through the events of these two days, and the tactics used by Houston PD Investigator, Detective Waymond Allen. We hear from Jennifer's mother, as she describes what it was like being the parent on the outside of the police station, as the Detective coaxed Jennifer into making an incriminating statement.

1:04.4	Unfortunately, very few parents would even think to teach this valuable lesson to their

1:09.5	I mean, after all, the police are the good guys.
1:13.5	And what are the chances that the situation will ever even come up?
1:17.0	But what if it does?
1:19.5	Would your son or daughter be prepared?
1:22.4	They be suspicious of a seemingly kind police officer who might offer them a candy bar,
1:28.2	feed them a meal, assure them that they're doing the right thing and that they can go
1:33.2	home just as soon as they sign a statement.
1:37.4	These are all tactics that are used by detectives every day in order to keep a juvenile witness
1:42.1	or suspect talking.
1:44.0	Our children are taught to respect adults, especially those in a position of authority.
1:51.0	Police officers know that and they use it to their advantage.
