Stage 7 of the Tour de Coss is about as close to the traditional transitional stage as we'll get.

It's designed to get us from Glasgow to Edinburgh with as little fuss as possible.

And after heading back up to Edry where we were yesterday, we pick up the National Cycle Network Route 75,

much of which is off-road as it takes us across to Livingston.

We're avoiding most of the significant climbing in the area, the famous Barthgate Alps is just across the way.

That really is West Lothian cycling mecca.

But we've got to go via Livingston Football Club and so that is what's keeping us on the low road.

Once we reach the outskirts of Edinburgh, we'll wiggle our way into the city and tick off another couple of clubs,

Heart of Midlothian and Hibbernian.

Hibbs actually play in Leith and so that will be our final stop before dropping down to our hotel on the waterfront.

The route is about 90 kilometres long, very little in the way of climbing, so should be a nice easy day in the saddle.

It's 7.17 on Thursday morning, stage 7 of this section of the tour to Coss today, stage 7 of 9 before we head back home

and we'll do the second half of this tour later on in the summer.

Another broken night's sleep for me really haven't been sleeping well since we had the news about Richard.

Every night's fallen into a bit of a pattern, really.

Pretty tired by the time we get to bed and then I wake up around two, three-ish and then I wake for a couple of hours.

Then maybe I get a bit more fit for sleep and then wake up again before the alarm goes off.

I don't really want to add up the number of hours that I've been managing to sleep, but I'm going to tentatively look out for the window, peel back the blind.

A white sky, damp road, but no rain, so our journey today takes us all the way across to Edinburgh.
