Alexa and today we are going to look at the book of Obadiah. In Obadiah

God gives a vision to the prophet Obadiah to foretell his judgment for Edum.

In the first part of Obadiah, we learn how the nation of Edum is arrogant. They believe that they are indestructible and they puff themselves up as

superiority. They believe that they are indestructible and they puff themselves up as a

superior nation. But God sees their pride and even though they

feel high and mighty, God is going to tear them down. God promises a judgment that

will involve destruction for Edom. Their nation will experience persecution

and all the treasures they cling to will be removed from them.

In verses 10 through 14, we learn why God will bring this judgment to Edim.

Edim is a neighboring country to Judah.

So Edim witnessed Judah being attacked by Babylon.

However, they didn't do anything to help Judah during this time, but remained passive and they mocked

them in their time of distress.

And what makes our passivity run deep is that the people of Edam came from the line of

ESAW, and Judah came from the line of Esau and Judah came from the line of Jacob.

While Edam and Judah had conflict with one another as nations,

they were essentially brothers because of their history.

And Edam allowed their brother to suffer.

Because of this, God will bring judgment upon Edim.
