| 0:27.0 | and today we're talking about numbers 19 through 21. So in today's chapters we start |
| 0:32.1 | off with God reminding the people about purity laws. Remember God is holy and pure. And |
| 0:39.9 | in order for the people to come before him, they too must be holy and pure. But thankfully |
| 0:46.2 | God didn't leave his people without instructions blindly trying to figure out a way of how to |
| 0:50.6 | honor him. Instead, he gave them his laws through the book of Leviticus to show the people |
| 0:56.9 | how to worship him and how to be clean. And chapter 19 reminds us of some of these laws. |
| 1:04.0 | Then in chapter 20, Miriam, who was Moses' sister died. But not only this, Moses was faced with |
| 1:11.9 | another trial very soon after when the people started grumbling before the Lord again, because |
| 1:16.6 | there was no water. Instead of just asking Moses to pray for water, they complained against Moses, |
| 1:24.0 | saying they would have rather died. They would have rather still been in Egypt to be slaves |
| 1:28.8 | and to be thirsty here today. And so Moses and Aaron went before the Lord and God told them to |
| 1:35.8 | tell a rock to produce water and it would. And so Moses and Aaron went off. But instead of telling |
| 1:41.7 | the water to come out, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff and he said, you rebels, |
| 1:47.5 | should we bring water for you out of this rock? And water flowed out from it. |
| 1:54.0 | So it may not seem like a big difference to talk to a rock or to strike it with a staff. |
| 1:59.2 | But in doing this, Moses actually had to subate God. And from his words, it seems like he was |
| 2:05.3 | taking God's place as the one who gave the people water. He wouldn't be able to enter the |
| 2:10.4 | promised land now because of this sin to make matters worse. At the end of chapter 20, Moses' |
