| 0:31.2 | So yesterday we talked about how the people of God were finally on the move. They were |
| 0:35.6 | on their way to the promised land. And now at the start of chapter 13, God told Moses |
| 0:41.0 | to send out spies to check out this new land, the land of Canaan. God had delivered his |
| 0:47.0 | people from Egypt with a promise. But the people hadn't actually seen this promise yet. |
| 0:53.2 | And now that they saw it, the land was just as amazing as God had said it would be. It |
| 0:58.4 | was beautiful. It overflowed with milk and honey. And the people should have been really, |
| 1:03.3 | really encouraged. They should have thought, wow, God's promises are true. He's an amazing |
| 1:08.2 | plan for us. But instead of worshiping God, they were really afraid. Because as the |
| 1:15.8 | spies came back, they reported, yes, the land is amazing. The fruit is beautiful, the |
| 1:21.3 | honey and the milk look awesome. But there are also really strong, huge people with big, |
| 1:29.5 | strong cities, people who look way stronger than us. How in the world are we going to enter |
| 1:34.4 | into this land? The spies were afraid. All except for Joshua and for Caleb, who had faith |
| 1:42.0 | that they'd be able to conquer the land by the Lord's power. And when the people heard |
| 1:46.5 | the report of the spies, they too were afraid. They actually even wanted to go back to Egypt |
| 1:50.7 | where they had been slaves. They wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb for saying that the |
| 1:55.6 | Lord would help them defeat their enemies. The people had doubted the Lord who had saved |
| 2:01.5 | them with the mighty act of power. He loved his people. He gave them food and drink in |
