Hey everybody, I'm Kristen and you're listening to the a year in the Bible with Daily Grace

podcast. And today we're talking about numbers 13 through 15.

So yesterday we talked about how the people of God were finally on the move. They were

on their way to the promised land. And now at the start of chapter 13, God told Moses

to send out spies to check out this new land, the land of Canaan. God had delivered his

people from Egypt with a promise. But the people hadn't actually seen this promise yet.

And now that they saw it, the land was just as amazing as God had said it would be. It

was beautiful. It overflowed with milk and honey. And the people should have been really,

really encouraged. They should have thought, wow, God's promises are true. He's an amazing

plan for us. But instead of worshiping God, they were really afraid. Because as the

spies came back, they reported, yes, the land is amazing. The fruit is beautiful, the

honey and the milk look awesome. But there are also really strong, huge people with big,

strong cities, people who look way stronger than us. How in the world are we going to enter

into this land? The spies were afraid. All except for Joshua and for Caleb, who had faith

that they'd be able to conquer the land by the Lord's power. And when the people heard

the report of the spies, they too were afraid. They actually even wanted to go back to Egypt

where they had been slaves. They wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb for saying that the

Lord would help them defeat their enemies. The people had doubted the Lord who had saved

them with the mighty act of power. He loved his people. He gave them food and drink in
