| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. The Bible tells one big story of |
| 0:07.0 | redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it |
| 0:16.8 | points to Jesus. Hey everybody. Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is |
| 0:28.1 | Jenny and today we are talking about Micah one through three. Before we get |
| 0:32.4 | into the book of Micah I want to give you a little background about this book. |
| 0:36.9 | The Prophet Micah lived around the same time as the Prophet Isaiah when the people of Israel were split into the northern and southern kingdoms. |
| 0:45.8 | At that time the people of Judah had turned away from God. |

| 1:07.0 | Micah chapter 1 opens with a plea for people to hear the words of God, |

| 1:27.3 | be wondering what is so wrong with the high places. But what this is referring to is places where other gods were worshipped. Some of these gods like Molok, even |
| 1:39.2 | required child sacrifice. And this is part of what God is angry about and is requiring that |
| 1:46.9 | Judah repent of and turn away from. In chapter 2, Micah shifts from talking about the general sins of the people to talking about those |
| 1:55.7 | who oppress and take from others. |
| 1:58.9 | Micah explains that these people would have no place in the assembly of the Lord. However, the people reject |
| 2:06.1 | Micah's prophecy, saying that shame will not overtake them. This simply shows how hard-hearted the people a Judah were. |
| 2:16.3 | Finally, in chapter 3, Micah addresses unjust leaders and false prophets who told God's |
| 2:22.0 | people that they would experience blessing despite their wickedness. |
