0:28.0	My name is Shelby Turner.
0:29.5	I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we will be talking about chapters 22 through 24
0:35.7	at the book of Matthew. We will see Jesus teach in Jerusalem and begin to
0:40.8	prepare his disciples for his imminent death.
0:45.0	Chapter 22 includes several controversies in the temple
0:49.3	about Jesus' authority.
0:51.6	The Sadducees repeatedly ask him questions to try to trip him up and prove
0:56.2	that he's not the Messiah, but Jesus sees their hearts and instead the Sadducees end up
1:01.8	being the ones who are proven wrong in this conversation.
1:05.6	In fact at the end of chapter 22 Jesus exposes their hard hearts when he proves his divinity
1:11.6	with scripture and they still do not respond with belief in him.
1:16.1	And the last verse in chapter says that from that day on no one asked Jesus any more questions. They didn't like the message that he was
1:25.3	preaching even though at this point they probably started to realize that they
1:30.1	couldn't prove that Jesus was not the Messiah, but they still refused to believe in
1:35.8	him.
1:36.8	Chapter 23 is Jesus communicating his despair for the hard hearts of the Pharisees and the scribes for they preach but they do not practice
1:47.4	he said he concludes with a lament for Jerusalem in all of Israel.
