I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we will be talking about chapters 22 through 24

at the book of Matthew. We will see Jesus teach in Jerusalem and begin to

prepare his disciples for his imminent death.

Chapter 22 includes several controversies in the temple

about Jesus' authority.

The Sadducees repeatedly ask him questions to try to trip him up and prove

that he's not the Messiah, but Jesus sees their hearts and instead the Sadducees end up

being the ones who are proven wrong in this conversation.

In fact at the end of chapter 22 Jesus exposes their hard hearts when he proves his divinity

with scripture and they still do not respond with belief in him.

And the last verse in chapter says that from that day on no one asked Jesus any more questions. They didn't like the message that he was

preaching even though at this point they probably started to realize that they

couldn't prove that Jesus was not the Messiah, but they still refused to believe in

Chapter 23 is Jesus communicating his despair for the hard hearts of the Pharisees and the scribes for they preach but they do not practice

he said he concludes with a lament for Jerusalem in all of Israel.
