Jeremiah covering chapters 37 through 39.

Remember how at the end of chapter 36 God told Joyakim that he would have no one sit on David's throne? Basically, because of Johoyakin's

defiance, his offspring would not become king. So in chapter 37, we see this play out.

King Nebuchinezer, the King of Babylon,

made Zetakaya the king instead of Konaia.

Konaia was Jehoiakim's son.

Konaia was deported and as God said,

none of his descendants took the throne.

So now we see Zetakaya is king.

Babylon, or your Bible translation may say the Caledians,

is attacking Jerusalem.

So Zetakaya sends people to Jeremiah to seek help.

They want Jeremiah to pray for them.

Then we're told that Babylon has temporarily withdrawn its siege on Jerusalem

in order to deal with the Egyptians.

God gives Jeremiah the words to tell the king.

Don't deceive yourselves. Babylon will come back and burn up the city.
