points to Jesus. Hi everyone welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily. My name is Ali and I'm one of the hosts of the podcast.

Today we'll be looking at the first three chapters of Galatians. The book of Galatians is an epistle. It was a letter written by the

apostle Paul to the Church of Galatia and in this letter Paul addresses the

church's belief in a false gospel, one that forgot or disregarded that the true gospel is not one of works, but of faith in Christ alone.

Nothing else, no one else, just him. He reminds us that we do not live to serve the law, but to serve Christ, who gave his life on the cross to save us. God sent his one and only son

so that we might have life everlasting in him. And the thing is there is nothing we can do to earn Christ's law for us. It is freely given to us when we trust him as our Savior.

And so as this book opens, Paul explains that this gospel he preaches is not of human origin and that it was revealed to him by Christ.

He acknowledges that he was once one who persecuted the church,

Christians. That is until God and His grace set him apart. And many have come to know Christ because of him. How wonderful

that no matter what our past looks like, we can find forgiveness in Jesus. and not only does he offer us forgiveness, but he uses us then to advance his kingdom, the truth of the gospel message so that others might come to know him too. When we come to him he

redeem the broken places so that he may use us for his glory. As we continue into

chapter 2 we read of debate among Jewish Christians as to whether or not

Gentile believers should submit to the law and become circumcised.

Some of the Jewish leaders who believed that in fact the

Gentile believers should be circumcised in accordance with the law were part of

the Church of Galatia and were confusing the people about what was required to follow Christ

and many Galatians did go along with what they said.

So we see this idea that the church thought

salvation was earned by works, in this case circumcision, but the law no longer

applied for Christ came that we might walk and freedom from the law. This is where
