at Ezekiel Chapter 13 through 15.

Ezekiel remained a prophet true to the words of God, but there were many false prophets

during this time.

False prophets spoke of more favorable fortunes and claimed they were from God when they were not.

Ezekiel was constantly contending with those false messages, and in chapter 13,

Ezekiel receives a word from the Lord to protect the people against the false prophets.

The false prophets were wicked and engaging in and encouraging wickedness, and God expressed

his disdain for them in their practices with Ezekiel as his mouthpiece.

The word he received from the Lord is sobering and necessary. These false prophecies were

causing great harm and misleading the people from what they truly needed.

Even the elders and Jewish leaders were an idolatrous people. The elders eventually

came and sat before Ezekiel. You might think their motives are good because they came to

Ezekiel to receive a word from God. However, they were not willing to let go of their worship

of false gods and idols. Because of their unwillingness and lack of

repentance, God did not answer them in the way they would have hoped. Instead, he

rebuked them, calling them to repentance and warning them of their fate if they did not.
