Hello and welcome back to Bible in a year with daily grace. My name is Katie and today

we're jumping in to Exodus 19 through 21. Three months of wandering brought the Israelites

to the Sinai wilderness where they will stay for the next 57 chapters of scripture. Here

they will not only meet with God, but they are introduced to what we know as God's

10 commandments. Chapter 16 begins with God reaffirming his covenant love and care for

the Israelites. He tells Moses that he has carried them on Eagles wings and brought them

to himself. Did you know that Eagles carry their young on their back when they're flying?

Any threat to them must go through the parent first. This is the picture that God was

painting first people. Before the law came, he established his unshakable love first

people if they would just keep their commandments and obey them. God gives Moses specific

instructions on how to prepare his people to meet him. They must wash themselves in

their clothes. They must abstain from sleeping with their wives and most importantly, they

must not climb the mountain. God's holiness would surely kill anyone who passed the set

boundary. And so the Israelites prepared themselves. On the third day, God came upon the mountain

in fire. God filled the senses of the Israelites, smoke from the fire, filled their noses, thunder

and a loud trumpet sound filled the air. Lightning burst in the sky, earthquakes rolled

beneath their feet, no wonder the Israelites trembled in fear and awe of their God.

As they gathered together at the foot of Mount Sinai, the people of Israel heard the voice
