redemption and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to finish, and exploring how all of it

points to Jesus.

Hello everyone. Thank you for joining us for another day of a year in the Bible with

Daily Grace. My name is Katie and today we are finishing my favorite book of the Bible

Ephesians. Let's dive in to chapters 4 through 6 together. In these chapters

Paul builds upon the foundation he laid in chapters one through three.

We now understand our identity in Christ as sons and daughters of God.

We understand that this is a free gift bestowed to us by the abundant love of God through Jesus's sacrifice for us.

But now what does that mean for our everyday life?

How do we carry ourselves now?

These questions are what chapters 4 through 6 tackle.

Paul lays out the goal of the church in chapter 4.

As Jesus' bride, we are to prepare ourselves for his coming and unify as brothers and sisters of the kingdom of God.

Ephesians talks about the maturity of the believer, also known as sanctification. Paul phrases this as the putting on and the

putting off. We are to put off our old ways of thinking, like bitterness and

anger and wrath and slander and put on our new selves filled with kindness

compassion grace and truth we are to be imitators of God. This reminder is incredibly helpful for us as we wrestle

with our sin in our day-to-day life. We can recognize that if we trust in Jesus and walk with

him, the Holy Spirit will continue to grow and shape us to look more like Christ.

As we bury God's word deep in our hearts, we can become better and better about recognizing sin and choosing the alternative, the way of light.
