2015, the remains of a woman were found in South Brooklyn. The New York City

Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. The case is

unsolved. The victim remains unidentified. We present this story with the hope that someone recognizes our Jane Doe.

For years, Chief Patrick Conry kept a large poster in his office at police headquarters.

A rendering of an African American woman about 35 years old.

Eyes big, staring straight ahead, neither smiling or frowning. Her name may or may not be Monique.

When you have a homicide that's this difficult where you don't even know the identity of the person. It stretches

all limits. It was the summer of 2018 when I first knocked on the chief's door to talk to him

about the case known as Monique.

The word around one police plaza was that he was obsessed with solving this murder.

I wouldn't say it's an obsession, but it's pretty damn close.
