| 0:34.1 | We're going to talk about Deuteronomy chapters seven through nine. After the law was spoken again, |
| 0:41.3 | it seemed like there was a renewed sense of calling and hope. But God knew the people still dealt with |
| 0:48.9 | fear, though the Israelites had become a great nation. They were not as powerful as the other |
| 0:56.2 | surrounding nations. The people who already lived in Canaan at that time posed a big threat. |
| 1:03.7 | But Moses assured the Israelites that they had already received God's victory. God who had |
| 1:11.6 | defeated the Egyptians was on their side. So he would also defeat the giants too and move the |
| 1:19.2 | Israelites into the Promised Land. But Moses also highlighted that there would be a temptation for |
| 1:25.7 | the Israelites to merge with the pagan culture. The Israelites were set apart and chosen by God |
| 1:34.1 | to point to his plan of redemption. But not because they were as strong and good people. |
| 1:42.6 | The Israelites were pretty flaky and rebellious. They did not deserve Canaan, but the Israelites |
| 1:50.4 | were selected to receive the Promised Land and only because the Lord loved them and was committed |
| 1:57.6 | to his word. In Canaan, God wanted to give them an abundance of blessings, many offspring, wine, |
| 2:06.6 | plenty of green, thriving livestock. These lavish blessings of God's love and grace were pictures |
| 2:14.6 | of the true spiritual blessing of life in God's presence. The true gift was resting with God and |
| 2:22.7 | being abundantly satisfied in relationship with Him. But in order to enjoy this abundant life, |
| 2:30.2 | they had to exercise their trust in God by following His commands. The Israelites could not go |
| 2:38.0 | into the Promised Land and wild out. Like they couldn't go to Canaan and take the good food and the |
