to be here with you. Today we are moving right along to chapters 10, 11, and 12 of Deuteronomy.

Now Moses reminded the Israelites that they were in a renewed covenant with the Lord. Despite their

idolatry, the Lord had given them another chance because he was committed to keeping his word.

He had promised to see them to the promised land and dwell with them forever. The Israelites

got a fresh start. Now all they had to do was obey the Lord, but this obedience couldn't be

surface level. In other words, obeying wasn't worshiping the Lord on the outside but secretly

wanting to worship another God on the inside. It wasn't visibly honoring your parents in action,

but despising them with your heart. No true obedience was following the law coupled with a loving

character and attitude. The condition of obedience would naturally flow out of faith in the Lord

and trusting that his ways are good. God had even set them to worship and obey with success.

The Ten Commandments were a gracious guide to enjoy the fullness of life with God,

and the Lord had appointed Levite priests to lead the community in worship.

They would teach the law, administer sacrifices to pay for the people's sins,

present offerings in the tabernacle, and pronounce blessings. They represented the whole nation

before God, and their faithful obedience was key in the Lord's glory remaining among them.
