I'm excited to be here with you all today. We're at the conclusion of the book of

Daniel and we're discussing chapters 10 through 12. Daniel was in mourning for three

weeks over the state of the Israelites.

He decided to abstain from food, wine, and the putting on of oil

to embody the dismal condition their sin brought. After this period of mourning,

Daniel had another vision. An angel came to him with a message. There are verses which describe the spectacular sight of the angel, how he reflected the glory of the Lord with his radiant appearance.

Daniel was terrified and could not stand, but the angel helped him and said Daniel was a man treasured by God.

The angel said he was coming to Daniel, but an evil spiritual being identified as the

prince of the kingdom of Persia tried to get in his way, but the being could not prevent God from accomplishing his

purposes. So another angel named Michael was sent for support. This section is interesting. It gives a glimpse into the

spiritual warfare that happens behind the visible and how they affect earthly

events, which is very different for us to consider.

In chapter 11, the angel gives a prophecy about the rise and fall of future kingdoms.
